The art project “Wir haben nur die Kraft eines großen Ideals” (“We only have the power of a great ideal”) emphasises the significance of the Olympic site as a concentration of the visionary ideas of 1972. On two summer evenings, the words “Freiheit, Offenheit und grenzenlose Freude” – “Wir haben nur die Kraft eines großen Ideals” – “Dabeisein ist alles” (“Freedom, openness and boundless joy” – “We only have the power of a great ideal” – “Being there is everything”) will streak across the Olympic Lake and the Olympic Hill as a light projection. The light performance by Nicole Raabe aims to playfully capture the attention of the visitors in its bright ephemerality, to generate conversations and to offer space for collective reflection. Can the spirit of Munich ’72 still be felt in today’s city with its challenges? What ideals do we formulate today, what ideas guide us?
Nicole Raabe, born 1969 in Frankfurt/Main, lives and works in Munich.
