A sculptural work with a twinkle in front of the Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum by Dana Lürken.

Sweet Brown Snail is a sculpture of a snail enlarged many times over by the US artists Jason Rhoades and Paul McCarthy and is located near Bavariapark on the plaza in front of the motor vehicle exhibits of the Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum. The sculpture was erected as part of an art-in-architecture competition in 2007. Since then, however, it has virtually been stranded. Munich-based artist Dana Lürken is changing all this and giving it space. She is laying a lush garden at the feet of this beloved inhabitant of Schwanthalerhöhe. This is a piece of sculpture with a sense of humour. This bed will contain a mixture of crops and ornamental plants – all things a snail likes – and will provide food for it from the beginning of May until mid-September 2023. The participation of local residents in maintenance and harvesting is desired.

The project is accompanied by information meetings and potluck picnics as well as cultivation and harvest meetings.

Dana Lürken, born in Munich in 1977, lives and works in Munich.
