The photographic art project “Rundkurs” by Olaf Unverzart focuses on the 22.8 km long route of the Olympic road bike race with start and finish in Grünwald, which had to be completed 8 times. His pictures are created on and around the former route, which still exists. They focus on something everyday and unspectacular. The connection to the competition from back then, with thousands of spectators, helicopters, press, team vehicles and 184 starters, is imaginary. What can be seen comes from the present with a documentary, artistic view that takes the event of 1972 as a basis for approaching the subject. The result will be a printed newspaper brochure featuring his photographs combined with archive footage from the 1972 race. In three typical Munich newspaper boxes along the route (Schäftlarn Abbey – Buchenhain – Grünwalder Bridge) this newspaper brochure will be available for you to take away free of charge. Period: July 18th to September 18th.

Olaf Unverzart, born 1972 in Waldmünchen, lives and works in Munich and Oberpfalz.
