The work “Israelisches Kollektivportrait” (“Israeli Collective Portrait”) takes Roland Fischer to Tel Aviv University in Israel. He combines a total of 1,000 individual frontal portraits of students, image by image, to create an overall composition that visualises both the individual and the collective. The multi-faceted collective image of Israel’s young generation now appears in the heart of Munich near the former synagogue, addressing questions of human identity as well as the German-Israeli relations.
Roland Fischer, born in Saarbrücken in 1958, lives and works in Munich and Beijing.
